There are plenty of cars and car culture on the High Coast. Many meetings and events have taken a pandemic break, but there is still the opportunity to feast in vehicles. Of course, the headliner is Härnösand’s car museum, the largest in Scandinavia!
The museum in Härnösand started in 2015 with the aim of being able to display at least 100 interesting cars from different eras. Since then, the ambition, the floor space and the number of visitors have grown with each passing year.
In the summer of 2021, there will be over 230 vehicles in fourteen different garages. Together they tell the story of the development of cars, engines and car culture from 1899 to 1990. And it is a story with many impacts. Here, classic luxury vehicles such as Rolls Royce and Packard are combined with our Swedish standard cars. The US car showroom’s abundance of Cadillac, Ford, Chevrolet and Buick is of course contrasted with the East German Trabant and Russian Lada. Here you will find Lasse Berghagen’s old A-Ford as well as Prince Bertil’s Oldsmobile and unique replicas of Dennis Hopper’s and Peter Fonda’s choppers from the iconic hippie film “Easy Rider”.
Every year, some vehicles are replaced and new ones are added, which means that the museum is constantly developing. This year, the collections have been expanded, among other things, with a Lincoln -32 in original condition, a battleship-class luxury car that had the great misfortune of being launched on the market when the depression had just hit the world. Also new is a greater investment in motorcycles – from spectacular choppers to motocross bikes.
