Elite Hotel Knaust,

Probably the most talked about and mythical hotel in all of Norrland with the iconic marble staircase in the foyer. This is a high-class accommodation in the center of Sundsvall, close to both restaurants and shopping. Adjacent to Knaust is the Bishops Arms pub.

Accommodation with class I building from the turn of the last century. In Stenstan with proximity to restaurants and shops, but still in a quiet location. Good breakfast.

Adjacent is an amusement palace with bowling alleys, laser hall, the Prison Island adventure competition and lots of activities. Not to forget, also a good restaurant.

Two kilometers from the center and with nature and outdoor activities close by, you will find this accommodation. Room types from full hotel standard to hostel style. Easily accessible and plenty of parking.

Odd store that strives to make the actual store visit an experience. Here you can find toys, jewellery, souvenirs, sweets and unusual clothes. Very organic and handmade.

Vinylstallet, Bankgatan 5
New press or second hand? Here you will find both the vinyls from the 1950s and those that were released the other day. Browse through the records and listen to beautiful music from the speakers in one of the most well-stocked record stores in Norrland.

Fancy bringing some regional food craft home? Sundsvall’s most well-stocked delicatessen is located on Norra Berget and is stocked with everything from reindeer meat to cheeses and ready-to-drink nectar.

Ido Te & Kafferosteri, Nybrogatan 8
The Kafferosteriet is one of Stenstan’s oldest shops and is well worth a visit even if it’s not really coffee you’re after. It smells wonderful here! Also sells coffee beans, quality sweets, local food products and much more.


Bloco, Stora Torget
Fantastic summer location in the middle of the square. And just like the square, Bloco is a meeting place, an unavoidable focal point during hot summer days and evenings. The food: picky and very Central and South American.

Thulegatan 5

Burger chain that markets itself as street food from Norrland. Good class and most things on the menu can be made vegan.

Naturaj, Torggatan 1
For a foodie, Johan Backeus (Chef of the Year 2017) and Birgit Malmcrona’s Naturaj is a must. Tasting menus that follow the seasons. Intimate feeling with cooking in the dining room and good bar.

Rå, Nybrogatan 16
A steak house that keeps up with its times. Well known dishes on the menu, but well made and often with a personal twist. The grill tray is a classic.

Klang Market, Storgatan 13
Fairly new in town and one of many restaurants in a national chain that has brunch, lunch, dinner and After Work.

Apa, Storgatan 33
The burger paradise in town with everything from the children’s burger to the brutal giant King Kong with its 600 grams. Appeals above all to a young target group and has an impressive beer fridge.

Shotluckan, Torggatan 4
Well, this place is for you who like shots in every variety you can think of. With that, you can eat snacks or Poke Bowls.

Esplanaden 17

Small dishes, but big flavors. Well-prepared food and nice bar right in the center. Popular meeting place in the evening.

Invito, Storgatan 6–8
Norrland meets Italy at fine Invito, an institution in Sundsvall’s restaurant world. A little more expensive, but very good. Top class take away too!

Menageriet, Storgatan 33
Bubbly, quirky and lovely restaurant complex in the center with “meat platter deluxe” and wagyu beef on the menu, but equally obviously kebabs and roe pizza. Own brewery and popular outdoor seating.

Restaurant Grankotten, Norra berget
Has been in the same place since 1901 and is thus one of the city’s oldest restaurants. High class in everything that is served as well as in the service. Also try Groggbaren Takterassen.

Bröderna Bommen, Klockarbergsvägen 13, Njurunda
Brewery and distillery, but also bakery. The Bommen brothers love this thing with flavors. Coffee or light lunch. Booked groups can also join a guided tour.

See & Do

City tour
Stenstan in central Sundsvall was rebuilt after a devastating city fire in 1888 and still today has a fairly homogeneous 1890s architecture, almost unique in the country. Discover the center by yourself or with a knowledgeable guide! The Stenstan Visitor Center on Stora Torget is a good starting point.

Katrinelund’s garden, Hagavägen76
Private inspiration garden that opened to the public in 2019. There is a cafe with good coffee as well as a shop. Advance purchase required!

Sundsvalls Åpark
Sports facility with bowls and street skating for skateboards, BMX, inline and kick bikes. The park is nicely located in the activity lane along the Selångersån in central Sundsvall and is open to everyone.

Climbing, Södra Berget
The high & low climbing course offers fun challenges among the trees on Södra Berget. Five courses of varying difficulty ensure there is something for everyone. Guides give tips and encouragement and ensure that the climbing is done safely.

Skansen in Norrlandic! In the outdoor area, there are many activities and beautiful nature to discover, as well as historic buildings, old landrace animals and culture-historical farms.

Rooftop walk, Södra Allén 5
Sundsvall’s history told in a very different way. Under the guidance of certified guides, you see Sundsvall’s stone city from above during a hike 25–27 meters above the ground.

Centralen, Sundsvall
A central where the unexpected occurs, where you don’t really know what to expect; but still longing for. A cosmopolitan meeting place of 3,500 m2 with Sundsvall’s largest bar in the Q-marked waiting room, a nightclub and concert venue of national standard, banquet hall with a focus on dinner entertainment.
